The Flagship Beer at MSB is a California Common.

Tantrum

There are many varieties and experimental versions of this California Common based on the original.

Many are so experimental they can hardly be called California Common. The original had a very Anchor Steam quality.

Tantrum is made in a traditional recipe featuring MSB's own homegrown Whole Cascade Hops.

Still there are varieties of Tantrum and distant offshoots of it that utilize hops from around the world as well as yeast that would never have been thought of when the California Common came to be.

The most recent version features Enigma hops from Australia and an ancient Norwegien Kveik yeast. It still has the Cali Common feel and overall taste in a unique undefinable flavor profile.

This one is called The Scald.  During it's initial preparation the Brewer suffered a scald to the hand from hot wort resulting in the name.

You want Pale Ale?

We got Pale Ale... They have become a standard at the Metal Shed.

From the East Side Pale Ale to the Amarillo Pale ale there are often a wide assortment of pale ales produced at The Metal Shed at any given time.

Sours are a favorite at The Metal Shed.   MSB Kettle sours can come in a variety of flavors including this Raspberry Sour.

Not always the most common style found on tap but when the mood strikes MSB sours can be subtle or a real pucker maker.

Sour Blues,

Sour Berry Weisse,

Oaked White Wine Sour

Sour Lime IPA

Are a few from the past

Pilsner.

Not the most common but they do appear on occasion

Primary Pilsner is the house version. Hallertauer and Saaz hops with a German Pilsner grain provide the typical Pilsner experience.

The Juicy or Hazy IPA

These are not often made but one must keep up with the trends so the occasional tropical hazy IPA does appear on tap

The Wheat or Wheat IPA

MSB does have a single Wheat IPA . While the IBU's are low the Wheat is high.

Plastic Shrubs Wheat IPA is a loose imitation of Birdsong's Fake Plastic Trees.

I enjoyed it enough to attempt an MSB variation.

There are many IPA's at the Metal Shed and ...

OCNA IPA  is the base for  several variations at MSB

OCNA IPA  features Columbus, Simcoe and Cascade hops.  There  have been many variations using a different variety of hops over the years but they are all based on this original. A more muddled IPA in that the hop profile is not crisp, with the aroma and IBU's leading the charge

The name is derived from OpenCaching North America (OCNA) and the brew was created to honor the Opencaching NA site.  A muddled geocaching alternative that tries hard.
